UPDATE: Monroe County Board of Elections says problems with reporting results have been fixed

UPDATE: The technical difficulties with reporting election results in Monroe County on Tuesday night have been fixed, according to a statement from Republican and Democratic Elections commissioners for the Monroe County Board of Elections.

The statement says that Election Day votes, all nine days of early voting, and all absentee ballots have been uploaded to the county’s public reporting system.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — It took longer than usual for results to come in from the Monroe County Board of Elections Tuesday night.

For a while, results did not show up on its website due to technical difficulties.

A statement posted online blamed a software issue, reading in part:

“The Board of Elections is experiencing delays with uploading election returns to the election night reporting system. We recognize that our voters and candidates are eager to see the election returns and are working diligently to improve the speed of reporting.”

News10NBC went to the Board of Elections to ask commissioners about the issue, but they were not available.

Outside, workers could be seen loading bags of ballots for counting at a site on Brighton-Henrietta Townline Road.

Republican La’Ron Singletary, who is challenging Rep. Joe Morelle in the 25th District, has called for an investigation. His attorney, Dan Strollo, said it was important to find out what led to the issue.

“It’s 12:20 a.m. at this point. There should be an answer to this election. I mean, historically, we would have an answer by 9:30 or 10 o’clock when the polls closed. It’s 2022. There should be answers at this point. It’s unacceptable we don’t have them.”
